Moon Day Puja and Dhamma Talk, 7–9 p.m.

On Tuesday Aug. 6, Ajahn Jayanto will offer a Dhamma Talk after the meditation as part of the evening puja. All are welcome.

Evening and morning pujas have been taking place regularly at the vihara, and you are welcome to join us for these periods of silent meditation and some chanting. Because we will be not be at the vihara on some days, please call or email to let us know you intend to come. That way we can get back to you if that day’s puja has been cancelled. (If you hear nothing back from us, then just come along as planned.)

Times:

Daily Evening Pujas: 7–8 p.m.  (7–9 p.m. with a Dhamma Talk)

Daily Morning Pujas: 6–7 a.m.

Anagarika Precepts Ceremony

On Monday July 22, which is Asalha Puja, there will be a small but significant Precepts-taking Ceremony for Jeff Miller – who will thus become an anagarika, or postulant – who plans to stay at the vihara to help the monks until September. Please feel free to join us for this auspicious event. It will take place after the meditation and before the Dhamma Talk, with everything beginning at 7 p.m.

Asalha Puja – Dhamma Talk

Asalha Puja is the full-moon day marking the beginning of the traditional Buddhist ‘rainy season’. This is a day of celebration, known in some Theravada countries as Dhamma Day, when the giving of the Buddha's first teaching is remembered. The following day is the first day of the Rains Retreat, or Vassa, which lasts for three months.

Join the monks at the vihara for an evening puja with meditation and a Dhamma Talk from Ajahn Jayanto – as well as a Precepts Ceremony for Jeff Miller, who will be taking the Eight Precepts as an anagarika, or novice. Chanting and meditation will begin at 7 p.m. and the evening should end between 9 and 9.30. Everyone welcome!
