Asalha Puja – Dhamma Talk
/Asalha Puja is the full-moon day marking the beginning of the traditional Buddhist ‘rainy season’. This is a day of celebration, known in some Theravada countries as Dhamma Day, when the giving of the Buddha's first teaching is remembered. The following day is the first day of the Rains Retreat, or Vassa, which lasts for three months.
Join the monks at the vihara for an evening puja with meditation and a Dhamma Talk from Ajahn Jayanto – as well as a Precepts Ceremony for Jeff Miller, who will be taking the Eight Precepts as an anagarika, or novice. Chanting and meditation will begin at 7 p.m. and the evening should end between 9 and 9.30. Everyone welcome!
